What We Do
Collaborate with our partners
At the forefront of our mission to combat the harmful effects of tobacco, vaping, and nicotine in Manitoba is our active collaboration with a diverse network of organizations and individuals, collectively referred to as The Alliance.
This partnership includes the Lung Association, Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke, and numerous other health, education, and community organizations.
Together, we actively advocate for broader and more effective policies, develop and deliver cessation programs, and educate youth and young adults about the health hazards associated with smoking and vaping.
Our Alliance serves as a powerful platform, amplifying our collective voices and strengthening our impact in the ongoing fight against tobacco, vaping, and nicotine use in Manitoba and beyond.
Advocate for effective policy
We hold our government accountable for developing measures that keep pace with the ever-evolving tobacco industry.
We're actively pushing for the establishment of a Provincial Commercial Tobacco & Youth Vaping Prevention & Reduction Strategy, recognizing the need for Manitoba to align with other provinces in this crucial area.
Through our advocacy, we strive to enact policies that not only address current challenges but also lay a foundation for a healthier, tobacco-free future for Manitobans.
Currently, we’re focused on several key policy initiatives:
Publishing and implementing a Commercial Tobacco and Youth Vaping Prevention Reduction Strategy.
Implementing a cost recovery fee on tobacco companies to offset the cost of commercial tobacco and youth vaping prevention & reduction efforts.
Increasing access to nicotine cessation medications and services by including Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) as a Part 1 benefit under Manitoba Pharmacare.
Ensuring that a portion of the funds allocated to Manitoba through the Companies Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) Plan of Compromise and Arrangement proposed “Global Settlement Amount” is allocated to Public Health Measures.
Raising the minimum age of purchasing commercial tobacco and vaping products to 21.

Our commitment to educating Manitobans about tobacco and vaping issues is multi-faceted.
